Lamptron FC5V3 Six Channel Fan Controller Review
Ryan Martin / 11 years ago
The front of the fan controller features six fan control dials that are very sturdy and firm, there is no side to side movement when you wiggle them.
The only Lamptron branding is at the top left of the brushed CNC milled aluminium bezel.
From the bottom you can see the high quality construction that has gone into the dials. Furthermore the dial #1 and #6 have additional electrical circuits as they are able to interact with additional settings on the fan controller other than setting voltages.
The side and the main frame are all made from metal for a solid durable construction.
There is a molex connector for power so you can use the provided cable or connect it directly to your power supply.
There are six open-sided fan ports to control six fans. You can plug directly into the fan controller or use the provided extension cables.
The use of a black PCB is always good to see.
Though the second PCB behind the display is green which is a bit of a let down in my opinion. Though Lamptron have informed me that final retail revisions will use two black PCBs.
Here you can see the green bit is mainly visible from the top of the fan controller and since the top of the fan controller should not be visible beneath the top of the case or 5.25″ device above the green should actually be hidden.
There are six 2 pin inputs for the six provided temperature probes.
There is an included fan alarm which can be set into three different modes, off, six fan monitoring or four fan monitoring.
There is an included jumper to turn on/off the Start Boost voltage setting.
