Futuremark has released the latest update version v2.3.3682 of their popular semi-synthetic 3D gaming benchmark software 3DMark. Two weeks ago, Futuremark released version v.2.3.3663 which adds official support for the Vulkan API but in the latest v2.3.3682 update, a critical bug in the API overhead test is resolved. The API overhead benchmark allows users to compare Vulkan (replacing Mantle), DirectX 12, and DirectX 11 API performance, available on the Advanced and Professional versions of 3DMark but this bug in the API overhead causes the test to fail on some machines towards the end of the DirectX12 API benchmark.
“The 3DMark API Overhead feature test measures API performance by making a steadily increasing number of draw calls,” Futuremark says. “The result of the test is the number of draw calls per second achieved by each API before the frame rate drops below 30 FPS.”
The rest of the features are otherwise consistent with the previously released version v2.3.3663. The 3DMark v2.3.3682 update can be downloaded automatically on Steam or via various mirrors on the official Futuremark 3DMark website. Users who already have the program installed on Steam have the option to update it directly when launched. The entire v2.3.3682 package containing 3DMark + TimeSpy is 3.7GB in size.
