How do you like your horror games? Personally, I must confess, I’m not a big fan. Well, it’s not that I don’t like them, but I only have so many pairs of underwear.
Nintendo Switch owners, however, have something to look forward to as Layers of Fear is set to release on the console this month!
When it originally released in 2016, it was an interesting game, but not necessarily to everyone’s taste. More akin to a walking simulator with jump scares, what really made Layers of Fear stand out was its atmosphere and environments.
A Mario Odyssey this is not, but if you are looking for something different on your Switch, this might well be worth a look for you.
Retailing for just £17.99 and including the DLC, Layers of Fear: Legacy (as this release is known) provides a lot of value for money, but the gaming style means that perhaps a little research is necessary. If you’re looking for survival horror and action, look elsewhere.
It’s hard to find a comparison, but perhaps ‘Gone Home’ meets ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ is a good example. It’s more about the atmosphere than content. One thing is that it is certainly very much about jump scares and it perhaps does these a little too much for its own good.
In a report via Eurogamer, Layers of Fear: Legacy will release on Nintendo Switch on February 21st. At present, we know it’s going to hit the e-shop but have yet to determine if a boxed version will follow.
For just £17.99 though, this game is worth playing, if for nothing other than the experience. When it’s over, you may not have enjoyed it, but you’ll take a lot away with you.
