In the latest patch that has come to League of Legends, the developers have added the infamous Valorant Vanguard Anti-Cheat. Now thanks to some Reddit posts the community is in uproar about claims that the new Anti Cheat is causing some people’s PCs to brick.
Vanguard is a kernel-level anti-cheat akin to the ones found in other multiplayer games like Fortnite and Warzone. A kernel-level anti-cheat is the most invasive type of anti-cheat pretty much giving it access to the most integral parts of your PC.
With this, there have been many rumours and accusations that it’s more of a spyware but when you go to download Vanguard, it gives you a message alerting you that it will have access to your PC’s core functions.
Riot has posted multiple replies to people on Reddit who have been having this issue one such reply was to a person whose laptop wasn’t booting and wouldn’t draw power from its charger, senior anti-cheat analyst Matt ‘K30’ Paoletti responded “An issue like this wouldn’t be related to Vanguard. If you haven’t restarted your computer in a while, it could related to an issue with your CMOS battery, since that’s what powers the start-up chain.”
…Who know’s right now though, maybe it’s bad computers, maybe it’s lousy code, time will tell.
