Leak Suggests ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme Could Be Just $700

Pinch of salt time, as with all leaks really, but if this one is true, I think it’s pretty huge news. ASUS has a reputation for being pegged at prices that are higher than their rivals and perhaps a little higher than their customers would like too, especially on their motherboards and GPUs. That being said, nobody can really refute the fact that they’re often some of the fastest hardware on the market too. That also seems to be true with their upcoming ASUS ROG Ally, their take on the mobile PC/Steam Deck market.

ASUS ROG Ally

ASUS’s upcoming handheld game console, the ROG Ally, will be priced at just $699.99 for the flagship AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme model, at least, that is according to a leak by SnoopyTech. If that’s true, then the entry-level model could come in at just $499, which would be pretty awesome if it did. My personal guess was going to be $899 and $599 but I’d like to be proven wrong.

Of course, there could still be cheaper and even more expensive models, as there’s likely to be some form of bundles, and different storage configurations, so $699 could be the fast CPU but basic storage package, while, and I am just guessing here, $999 for some bundle with a huge fast NVMe drive or something like that.

The flagship Z1 model comes with a 120Hz 7″ Full HD display, powered by the mighty 4nm Phoenix APU. 8-core/16-threads and a Navi3 iGPU based on the RDNA3 graphics architecture. That packs an impressive 12 CU for 768 stream processors and 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory, with a 512 GB NVMe SSD. I think it’s fair to say this little handheld will outpace quite a few of your gaming PCs… it’s no slouch, that’s for sure. The “cheaper” model features a 6-core/12-thread CPU, but the iGPU has 4 CU with 256 stream processors.
