Leaked AMD 7900 XT/7900 XTX Images Confirm GPUs Will Retain the VGA Power Port!

With AMD officially set to announce the launch of their Radeon 7000 graphics cards on November 3rd (less than a week away now) while a lot of interest has undoubtedly been placed on what kind of level of performance we might expect to see from them (and particularly so against Nvidia’s current 40XX offerings), another major point which consumers have raised is whether AMD will be looking to transition to the PCIe Gen5 power connection standard, and basically, whether the GPUs will require the use of a somewhat controversial 12VHPWR adaptor or not.

Well, in this regard, we had some good news last week as AMD confirmed that their Radeon 7000 series would be retaining the standard 8-pin (6+2) VGA cable. – Following a report via TechPowerUp, however, just in case you wanted something a little more concrete than this, leaked images have now confirmed that, at the very least, the Radeon 7900 XT and 7900 XTX graphics cards will indeed retain the VGA power connection.

AMD Radeon 7000 Will Keep the Standard VGA Power Connector!

The 99.9% confirmation of Radeon 7000 retaining VGA will be welcome to many and particularly since Nvidia is falling under more than a little concern (and criticism) following a growing number of reports saying that the 12VHPWR adaptor provided with their 4090 GPU is actually melting! – And yes, this is worrying people enough that they’ve already started giving AMD’s upcoming Radeon 7000 series more attention than they might have done otherwise.

Of course, though, this is just one factor in AMD’s favour. We are still waiting on news regarding the expected level of performance from the Radeon 7000 series which has, so far, remained notably quiet. – With that being said though, some sources are suggesting that AMD might come notably closer to matching Nvidia’s performance than seen in a long time!

On November 3rd though, we’ll find out (more or less) for sure!
