The Radeon HD 7970 from AMD, which should be launched next month, has recently seen its specifications leaked through a slide.
Coming from OBR-hardware, this slide is apparently part of a press deck, which therefore present us an early sneak peek at what to expect.
As we can see, the HD 7970 is equipped with 32 CU containing 2048 ALUs, it’s clocked at 925 MHz. This translates into 3.5 TFLOPS (Single Precision). TMUs are raised to 128, as expected.
However, ROPs remain at 32 compared to Cayman, which is rather unexpected in relation to the memory bus which, as we we saw, is 384-bit.
Memory speed remains unchanged at 5.5 GHz, meaning a 50% boost in memory bandwidth. The TDP is rated under 300W, while the idle power is only 3W. This means a 8-pin + 6-pin power connector configuration.
Connectivity-wise, we can see the HD 7970 features four display outputs – one DVI, two mini-DisplayPort and one HDMI. Finally, the slide mentions the embargo release date as the 9th January 2012.
Keep in mind that faked slides isn’t a first, meaning that this information is to be considered with caution. On the other hand, the image of the card seems to be identical to the pictures that were leaked not so long ago.
