Atari is currently in the middle of celebrating its 50th anniversary. A factor which, for some of you, will already have you questioning how old you now feel in this knowledge! – Of the various products and gaming consoles they’ve released over the years, however, few have been anything as massively iconic or popular as the 2600.
For many (admittedly almost entirely state-side rather than in Europe) it represented their first major gateway into the world of home video games and remains, despite its age, a beloved part of gaming nostalgia. – Following reports via PromoBricks, however, images and information has appeared online suggesting that, as part of the celebrations, Atari and Lego might be imminently set to announce a new collaboration that will result in the release of a 2600 kit!
Lego Atari 2600 Kit!
We should note that despite the publication of what appear to be professional/promotional images, there is nothing official yet from either Atari or Lego confirming that this 2600 set exists, or more so, is planned for an imminent launch/release. – It does, however, appear that the source is pretty adamant this is not only genuine but looks certain for a general consumer release next month!
It is speculated that the kit will compromise not only a full-scale model of the Atari 2600 console but it will also include a number of the system’s most iconic games cartridges! – Overall, for any fan of retro gaming, this undoubtedly looks pretty cool.
Well, let me put this another way. I have significantly more interesting in purchasing this than I do the Atari VCS.

As noted above, neither Atari nor Lego has officially confirmed anything yet about this new upcoming kit. The source does, however, say that it should be scheduled to release at some point in August 2022 (possibly August 1st) for a price in the region of €169.99/$199.99. Albeit they do add that limited availability may see the kit only made initially available to LEGO VIP members with general availability arriving in January 2023.
We will, of course, keep you posted with any updates. For the moment though, for the latest news on this kit, we recommend you keep an eye on the Promobricks YouTube channel via the link here!
