These days, Al Lowe may not be one of the first names you would reel off in a list of iconic video game developers. It is, however, hard to understate what an impact he had on the industry. Working at Sierra (Sierra On-line as it was known back then), he is perhaps best well-known for his creation of the Leisure Suit Larry series.
I have, actually, on more than one occasion, had the pleasure of speaking with him and have always found him to be entirely affable and happy to talk his past in the industry.
So why am I mentioning him? Well, it turns out that following an interview with YouTube Channel ‘Metal Jesus Rocks’, he’s having a bit of a garage sale. One in which you can bid on original (and sole) copies of many of his names source code.
Well, his clearance includes some items that will definitely be of interest to many gaming historians. These include;
All of the above items are currently on sale with the auctions set to expire in roughly 7 days!
Despite this gaming treasure trove, Al Lowe has said there are many more items in his attic. Items which he plans to also sell in the future. While the prominence of Leisure Suit Larry (or Al Lowe) is perhaps not as great as it was 20-years ago, these are truly a remarkable collection of games. In all honesty, if I had the money to spare, I’d want these for myself! Oh well, perhaps you do have the money to spare!
