Lenovo have unveiled their latest high performance ThinkPad – the W540. This is Lenovo’s most power and mobile workstation that they’ve ever made. The notebook is still a ThinkPad notebook but Lenovo are dubbing it a mobile workstation due to its power. The main selling point is the 15.5 inch 3K IPS display which boasts a resolution of 2880 x 1620, viewing angles should be exceptional given the IPS technology – expect up to 178 degrees.
Internally the device is powered by a quad core Intel Core i7 processor, up to 32GB of DDR3 SODIMM memory and Nvidia Quadro professional 2D/3D graphics. Up to 2TB of storage in RAID is also available. The notebook has a ThinkPad precision backlit keyboard with full number pad. Connectivity is extensive too with Thunderbolt and 4G LTE WWAN support. Interestingly the display features an X-Rite color calibrator. The total weight of the unit is just 5.45 pounds and the maximum thickness is 27mm – around an inch.
