Lenovo has today introduced its Legion 9i, the world’s first Ai-Tune gaming laptop with an integrated liquid-cooling system.
The Legion 9i is a 16″ gaming laptop which is with an i9 13980HX processor, up to an NVIDIA RTX 4090 and either 64GB of 5600Mhz DDR5 or 32GB of 6400 MHz DDR5. This hardware powers a 16″ 3.2K Mini-LED 16:10 display with a 165Hz variable refresh rate. Keeping the high-end hardware cool is the Legion Coldfront integrated liquid-cooling system capable of dealing with a maximum of 230W TDP. This system has been co-engineered with Cooler Master and turns on when the GPU hits 84 degrees. It is coupled with the “AI-Tuned” triple-fan air-cooling system with 6,333 individual intake vents keeping it cool under even the most extreme gaming situations. Powering all of this hardware is the 99.99Whr battery that charges via both the included 330W Slim Adapter or the 140W Type-C adapter.
This laptop is advertised as having an AI chip that works with the AI-tuned triple-fan air cooling system as well as the Smart FPS feature. This feature allows the chip to interface with the display to track frames-per-second and automatically adjust power to the GPU and CPU for max FPS no matter the gaming scenario. This sounds like Lenovo is just using AI as a buzzword for a GPU and CPU power management system. This AI also syncs the Legion Spectrum RGB in the keyboard with the visuals on the screen similar to some RGB strips behind TVs.
“The introduction of the Lenovo Legion 9i (16″, 8) marks the latest pinnacle of Lenovo Legion’s gaming laptop innovation. The Lenovo Legion 9i is first laptop in the Lenovo Legion ecosystem with an integrated liquid-cooling system and hardware AI chip tuning. The forged carbon A-cover, which in addition to its ‘unique-to-each-laptop aesthetics’ means a lighter laptop for gamers and creators who demand nothing but the best.” said Jun Ouyang, Lenovo’s vice president and general manager of the Consumer Business Segment, Intelligent Devices Group. “We are constantly challenging ourselves to push the limits when designing gaming solutions. The Lenovo Legion 9i (16″, 8) has set a new benchmark for us that we are excited to meet—and exceed—in the future.”
The Legion 9i will be available in October with an MSRP of €4,499.
