Lenovo Legion Go S Could Be First to Feature Valve’s SteamOS

Lenovo Legion Go S Could Be First to Feature Valve’s SteamOS

Valve recently released a user guide for its logos, providing further insight into its plans to expand SteamOS to third-party consoles. The guide hints that SteamOS may be compatible with devices like the ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X. However, it appears that neither of these models, except for the Steam Deck, will be the first to feature Valve’s operating system. Leaked images of the new Lenovo Legion Go S suggest it could be the first to include a dedicated button for launching Steam.

Potential Model Variants with SteamOS

The button has been spotted on the black version of the Legion Go S, but it is absent from the white variant. This could indicate that Lenovo is planning to release multiple models, one with Windows and another with SteamOS. If so, the different versions may be distinguished by their case colors. This aligns with Valve’s recent publication of a guide on using its logos, which could suggest a collaboration with Lenovo.

A Cheaper Model with SteamOS?

A Lenovo Legion Go S running SteamOS could provide a compelling reason for a more affordable version of the console. By removing Windows, Lenovo could reduce production costs, allowing for a lower sale price. However, we will need to wait for official details about the hardware, including the AMD Ryzen Z2 chip, before we can expect an official announcement of this model or potentially other SteamOS-enabled consoles.
