Lenovo has officially revealed its Legion Go handheld gaming device confirming the details of previous leaked information alongside the Legion Glasses and Legion In-Ear Gaming Headphones.
Lenovo Legion Go
The Legion Go is a gaming handheld powered by the Ryzen Z1 series processor featuring 8 cores and 16 threads as well as RDNA graphics. This chip is paired up with 16GB of LPDDRR5 at 7500 MHz all running on Windows 11 capable of running many games on the go. The handheld features an 8.8-inch QHD+ 16:10 display which supports up to 500nits of brightness and a 97% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The resolution of the display and the refresh rate is adaptable from 1600p to 800p and 144 Hz and 60 Hz refresh rates, it also adopts a 10-point touch screen for intuitive and natural control. The console offers up to 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage as well as up to 2 TB of extra storage in the Micro-SD card slot.
Keeping the hardware cool is Lenovo Legions’s Coldfront thermal technology featuring a liquid crystal polymer 79-blade fan that keeps the device cool with less than 25dB of fan noise in quiet mode whilst still allowing the device to reach 25W TGP.
The battery in this device features a 49.2Wh capacity allowing for long gaming sessions without needing to recharge. Additionally, this battery supports Super Rapid Charge Via USB-C which provides up to 70% charge in just half an hour, plus it features power bypass mode to prevent damage to the battery when using the console during charging.
Detachable Controllers
The key selling point of this handheld that separates it from the other PC gaming handhelds is its detachable controllers, similar to that of the Nintendo Switch. These controllers named “TrueStrike” allow for more flexibility allowing for the handheld to be propped up with the included kickstand and used separately. The right controller can be connected to an included controller base through a magnetic connection and features an optical eye at the bottom for more precise aiming during FPS games, effectively acting as a mouse. Hall effect joysticks are also included leading to no joystick drift and minimal dead zones for maximum responsiveness and accuracy during gaming sessions. The rest of the buttons include a large D-Pad, angled mouse wheel and a total of 10 mappable shoulder buttons, triggers and grip buttons.
Legion Space
Lenovo has also created a dedicated app for the Legion Go named Legion Space. This app allows quick access to all game platforms and stores plus purchase games on the Legion store. With each Legion Go handheld, a 3-month membership to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is included giving you instant access to a large game library.
