The Tech Team over at CowCotland have managed to get a hands on what looks to be one of the most impressive power supplies the market has seen for quite a while. The G1600 is a 1600W power supply as the 1600 in the model name suggests, the G is representative of the fact this power supply is Gold rated using the 80 Plus standard. 1600W of power makes it more than capable of delivering power to a dual CPU and quad GPU configuration with some room for additional power from overclocking depending on the specific hardware.
The large 1600W capacity is achieved using six 12V rails which comprises of two rails chucking out 20 Amps and four other rails providing 30 Amps. Cooling is provided by a 135mm fan. Cabling is fully modular (yes that’s right not a single cable is attached) as you would expect from a unit like this. You get two 8 pin EPS connectors for dual CPU support and 12 PCI-E connectors for up to four video cards with a few cables left over for suppemental board power or additional cards requiring PCI-E power connectors. There’s a stackload of Molex and SATA connectors too. The power supply will start shipping soon.
