LG announced the 34UC89G-B monitor last month but it is finally available. The 34UC89G-B is designed for gamers who want to have the high refresh rates of a gaming monitor panel, without slumming picture quality with a TN panel. It offers an ultra-wide 34″ 2560 x 1080 curved IPS panel display that is versatile and stylish. The IPS panel can cover 99% of the sRGB color space and has a pixel pitch of 0.312 x 0.310. The curved panel has a 178 degree vertical and horizontal viewing angle.
LG 34UC89G-B Gaming Credentials
The new LG monitor features a refresh rate of 144Hz, giving gamers smoother game play. This can actually run up to 166Hz when overclocked. It also features NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility for even smoother performance, syncrhonizing refresh rates with compatible NVIDIA GeForce video cards.
Aside from helping with the framerate, the LG 34UC89G-B’s ultra-wide design gives players a better vantage point than typical widescreen HD or UHD screens. There is also a built-in Cross-hair feature which overlays a crosshair at the center of the screen. It actually sounds like cheating, as this gives players a distinct advantage in games where certain guns have the cross hair disabled. LG also adds exclusive features such as Black Stabilizer and Dynamic Action Sync so users can see their opponents better in game.
Input and Output Options
The rear display output features an HDMI 1.4 port and a DisplayPort 1.2 port. The 144Hz and 166Hz refresh rate option is only supported when using the DisplayPort connector. The HDMI port is limited to 60Hz. There are also USB ports in the form of one USB 3.0 upstream port and two USB 3.0 downstream port.
Pricing and Availability
The LG 34UC89G-B is currently available worldwide for $999 USD or £840 in the UK.
