It may sound odd and crazy, but LG Electronics will present, at this year’s IFA 2011, a new mouse doubled with a scanner: the LSM-100.
The scanning with this mouse is easy, just press the Smart Scan button on the left side and simply swipe the mouse over the material to be scanned. The image can either be saved in a variety of file types – PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, XLS and DOC – or simply dragged and dropped where you want it.
Most of you will have noticed the DOC file type above, which I didn’t misstype, on the contrary, the LSM-100 is also equipped with LG’s Optical Character Recognition technology, allowing scanned text to be converted into Microsoft Word characters to be edited as the user prefers.
As this mouse is on the move, there is no frame limitation, meaning that the LSM-100 can scan pages up to A3 format, and with the upgraded scanning technology, the faster pass-over allows for a less time consuming scanning.
The good thing about it is that it’s also a mouse… The laser sensor is accurate and durable, and the design is not only attractive but practical, fitting easily in the hand, allowing a comfortable grip and smooth motions.
Don’t expect any availability and price yet, you’ll have to wait for this year’s IFA.
