LG Shows Off G6 Smartphone Durability in Rube Goldberg Gauntlet Ad (VIDEO)

The G6 smartphone has been subjected to a Rube Goldberg gauntlet designed to test its durability in the latest ad from LG. Hearing that a phone has a glass front and back is enough for most casual users to worry about its sturdiness, especially in light of exploding Samsung phones and folding Apple iPhones, but the two-minute, 30-second video ad does a very good job in putting those fears to rest as well as promote the G6 smartphone’s capabilities. In the video, the LG flagship is subjected to extreme cold and heat, dust, submerged, slammed, X-rayed, charged, and squeezed, while managing to show off its video and photo capabilities at the end of the Rube Goldberg gauntlet.
LG has been very aggressive in trying to take away market share with the G6 from their competitors, even offering a big screen TV for US customers who pre-ordered it. They are also trying to recover from the marred image of the previous G-series which has been plagued by boot-loop issues. So far, the LG G6 has been received warmly by critics and fans, unlike the G5. The lower price of the LG G6 against the Samsung Galaxy S8 also helps, although its use of the older Snapdragon 821 used in the OnePlus 3T and Google Pixel vs the Galaxy S8’s Snapdragon 835 takes away from its performance appeal.
