CES 2019 is only a month away and LG is giving users a preview of what to expect from their laptop line. This includes two upcoming LG Gram models: a 17-inch (17Z990) and a 14-inch 2-in-1 (14T990).
The LG Gram series is of course their ultra-light notebook series. Last year, the Gram series started using Intel Coffee Lake CPUs and boasted up to 22.5 hours of battery life.
These two new Gram models expand upon last year’s offering since now users have the option of a larger size and a compact 2-in-1. As usual, they are sticking to Intel 8th Gen for the efficient battery life. In fact both units have a 72Wh battery.
This allows the 17-inch model to last up to 19.5 hours, while the 14-inch 2-in-1 can survive up to 21 hours. Although not quite up to 22.5 hours like last year’s models, these are nonetheless quite impressive.
This massive notebook measures 380.6 x 265.7mm, but is only 17.4mm thin and weighs 1340g. The large size of course, allows it to afford a higher resolution screen. Which is why LG is pairing it with a 17″ WQXGA (2560 x 1600) IPS with sRGB 96% colour gamut.
As for memory, it comes with 8GB or 16GB (1 on board + 1 slot) DDR4. Storage options include either a 256 or 512GB M.2 SSSD. IO ports include USB 3.1 Type-C (Thunderbolt 3 Option), USB 3.1 x 3, Dual Mic, HDMI, microSD, HP/Mic Out (Combo).
Other features include a 98-key backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, precision glass touchpad, US Military Standard Certification (MIL-STD-810g), DTS Headphone X.
The 14″ 2-in-1 measures 324.6 x 210.8 x 17.9mm and weighs 1145g. It has similar memory and storage options as the Gram 17, although it uses a FULL HD (1920 x 1080) Touch IPS Display panel instead. However, since it is a 2-in-1, the screen has to be durable. Which is why LG covers the display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
In terms of connectivity, it has USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.1 x 2, Dual Mic, HDMI, microSD, HP/Mic Out (Combo). Other features include a 98-key backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, LG Stylus Pen (Wacom AES2.0), US Military Standard Certification (MIL-STD-810g), DTS Headphone X.
