Lian Li is no stranger to test bench chassis, but the new T70 sets itself apart from the rest. The test bench will work great for enthusiasts who want to rapidly swap hardware as well as for those who want to use it as a workstation. The optional expansion kit will offer an acrylic cover and radiator mounts.
“Testing on an open bench requires careful planning, else it leads to misguided results. Most gamers have closed cases, affecting thermal, acoustic, and even performance results compared to exposed hardware. I’m working to represent that more accurately. While my measurements are easier to collect, more applicable, and completely objective, it was the close cooperation with Lian Li that helped move this project forward. The closed case gave me the platform I’ve been needing, and that readers have been asking for, to facilitate more realistic reviews.”
An open design is key for a test bench. You need to be able to access everything with ease at all time. Simplicity is key here and that is just what Lian Li created with their T70 test bench. The rear IO and expansion panel can also be removed for even better clearance.
There are situations where you need a closed system, also when you’re dealing with a test bench. Lian Li created the T70-1 upgrade kit for this. The kit includes side panels with mounts for 120mm and 140mm fans or up to 280mm radiators. There’s also an acrylic canopy which is secured by magnetic strips and the ability to mount an additional fan at the rear. This will allow reviewers to simulate closed-case setups. After all, that is what most people use.
The Lian Li T70 will support most hardware that you can throw at it. You can install motherboards from E-ATX to mITX and it features eight expansion slots. Add-in cards can be up to 330mm long and the same goes for ATX-sized power supplies. With the canopy on, you can install CPU coolers with a height of up to 180mm.
There isn’t room for a lot of drives in the T70, but it should be enough for most setups. You can either install five 2.5″ and one 3.5″ or one 2.5″ and two 3.5″ drives. The floor panel further has mounting options for a 360 radiator, reservoirs, and pumps for liquid cooling setups.
The PC-T70 will be available at the end of May. Overclockers UK will then have it for £99.90 GBP. Beside this black model, Lian Li will also introduce a white model. Lian Li didn’t reveal the price of the upgrade kit at this time.
