Lian Li Lancool 205 Mid-Tower Case Review

Exterior

The first thing I’ll say about this case is that it looks awfully familiar. There’s a lot of cases that look like this right now, it’s pretty much the standard look of the last couple of years. Tempered glass down the side, side ventilation, and really it’s just clean and presentable. I like the lack of screws on the glass, giving it a nice flat look.

While the front is a solid panel, there’s ample ventilation down the sides with a dust filter behind them. This will be fine for most systems and will give you a quieter PC overall too. However, Lian Li does make a mesh version should you desire it.

The right side panel is a solid blank panel, fairly standard fare but it gets the job done. I nearly said it’s a black panel too, but hey, this case is also available in white!

Around the back, there are signs that this is a more affordable case. It looks a little more mass-produced than some of the more expensive models. Of course, this is a cheaper case, they’re not hiding that fact. There’s a 120mm fan mount, and it has extra-long screw holes so you can adjust the height; handy for AIO compatibility.

There are seven expansion slots, each with a reusable and ventilated metal cover. There’s also a slide-out guard on the right, which will give you a little more wiggle room when installing larger expansion cards.

There’s an ATX PSU mount in the bottom of the case too, and really, it’s all pretty standard stuff here, no big surprises.

Upon the top, there’s a magnetic dust/debris cover. Of course, you can just lift that out the way to clean it, and you’ll find two 120/140mm mounts below it. The front control panel features two USB 3.0 ports, a larger central power button, and a pair of audio jacks.
