Lian Li Lancool 205 Mid-Tower Case Review

Complete System

Building a system inside the Lancool-205 was a breeze, as this is a fairly straightforward and familiar case to me. It doesn’t really offer much in the way of innovation, more predictability, and that’s no bad thing for such an affordable case.

One thing is for certain, the price may be low, but Lian Li’s experience in building quality cases is high. Everything fits well and is located as it should be. The end result was a fairly effortless build with really easy cable routing.

The vertical pass-through is nice, albeit, with the HDD bays in there, it does take a little wiggling to get cables through. However, it got the job done and kept cable runs nice and tidy.

The case is quite compact for an ATX case, but as you can see, a decent size graphics card fits with room to spare. Wider card designs certainly won’t be an issue, and there’s good clearance for airflow throughout.

Personally, I think the front fan needs to be put in the lower slot as standard though, otherwise, the airflow path is right out the back, and not pulling cold air from the lower sections up through to the higher sections of the case. However, if you add your own fans or an AIO, it’s a perfect time to change this configuration anyway.

There’s good space in the top for an AIO, so you can mouse that to exhaust up, and put both stock fans in the front; win win!

With the glass back in place, the Lancool 205 just looks clean and smart. There’s no RGB on this version, however, the mesh version does come with 2 x RGB front fans, but it does also cost more too. For a clean looking work/gaming PC though, this is right on the money.

What do you think, will this look great next to your desk? You’ll be hard pushed to tell me it won’t!
