Lian Li PC-B12 Mid-Tower PC Chassis Review

Inside the chassis the same high quality finish continues, with a great mixture of aluminium panels, the black finish aluminium panels of the exterior and the black sound adsorbing material on the side panels. As with any most Lian-Li chassis everything in here shows signs of some clever engineering and a lot of interesting features.
The back panel of the motherboard has a decent size cut out to help with CPU cooler installations, as well as two vertical cut outs on the right to help with cable management, these do not come with rubber grommets fitted.
In the back of the chassis you can see the 120mm fan is installed with a nice grille on it, this prevents cables from getting trapped in the fan blades, but it also fits with the overall style of the chassis. Further down there are 8 expansion slot cover, each with replaceable covers and while you do have the option to mount them (or your devices) with screws, the chassis comes pre-fitted with a mechanical locking system that again looks very well engineered but allows for screw-less installation of your components.
In the base of the chassis there are two rails coated with a rubber strip that support your PSU, below that there are some diagonally cut slats that allow for airflow the power supply.
In the front of the chassis there are 2 x 5.25″ drive bays, each fitted with a screw-less mechanical locking system. Below that we have a fully removable dock which houses the front 2 x 120mm pre-installed fans. The hard drive tray comes with support for 3.5″ and 2.5″ drives, using special screws and rubber washers to mount your drives in a method the helps prevent vibration.
In the top of the chassis there is a sound proof lining the will help reduce noise from within the chassis, very useful when the chassis is made out of super light aluminium as light cases can be prone to vibration noise, but that is not very likely to be an issue with this chassis.
Around the back of the motherboard mounting plate, there isn’t much going on, there are a few pre-drilled holes between the cable management cut-outs that you can use for running cable ties through to keep things neat and tidy. But the biggest feature is the huge amount of clearance from the base of the chassis to the mounting plate that spans the width of the chassis, this is basically a huge cable management cut-out, which we’ll take a closer look at in a moment.
Both the chassis side panels are identical and both come lined with a high quality sound proofing which will go a long way to reducing noise from within the chassis and minimise any vibrations in the chassis.
