Although pending regional confirmation outside of North America, Lian Li has said that the SP750 will hit retailers with an MSRP of $139.99. – So, getting one elephant out of the room, this isn’t an inexpensive power supply. Consumers should remember though, that SFX (small form factor) designs are not easy to create. Particularly ones that offer features and performance as potent as seen in this. Throwing that 5 year warranty into the mix and, quite frankly, we think this is actually excellent value for money if you consider this an investment rather than a purchase.
When it comes to SFX power supplies, the general ethos you tend to expect is that some compromises have had to be made in the design to ensure everything can fit neatly within such a small package. Make no bones about it though, while the Lian Li SP750 might be small, it offers a level of performance that not only makes it stand out in the SFX market but also blows the vast majority of fully-sized ‘standard’ PSUs right out of the water. As can be seen in our testing, the Lian Li SP750 rarely skipped a beat and in specific regards to the efficiency performance, successfully punched colossally above its weight.
If you are looking to build a new compact PC system, then the Lian Li SP750 offers plenty of functionality for you. A factor that, at least in my view, largely stems from the fact that, unlike many alternative SFX PSU designs, this model from Lian Li gives you more than enough cables to easily hook up all of your components while still offering plenty of future upgrade connectivity options. Admittedly, it’s a little disappointing that this doesn’t come out the box with an ATX adaptor bracket included, but then again, if you want ATX, go ATX. If you want SFX, go SFX. Simple right?
The SFX market has grown remarkably strongly over the last few years and the people who enjoy those kinds of system builds are crying out for more and better quality components to consider. With the SP750 though, Lian Li hasn’t just answered that with this power supply, but they’ve managed to provide what could quite possibly be the best SFX power supply available to buy. Lian Li might not release many power supply models, but based on just how absolutely amazing the SP750 is in practically every regard, I’m kind of now left hoping that this is just the start of something big!
