Troubled actor Lindsay Lohan has launched her own smartphone app. The freemium game, called Lindsay Lohan: The Price of Fame, is pitched as a satire of Hollywood celebrity culture and was coded by OK Go guitarist Andy Ross. It debuted in the App Store chart at number 10.
The game puts the player’s custom-designed character through the life of a despairing celebrity, desperately scrabbling for money and fame, done so via the player repeatedly swiping at the screen. Money can then be used to buy outfits, or pay for your raw food diet.
Ross explained, “I had this idea for The Price of Fame based on another popular game we made called “Make it Rain: The Love of Money.” Lindsay Lohan became involved in the project after Ross decided that “she had the right energy for this” after reading comments by her in the press. “Andy did a great job. He understood what I wanted and the game captures a great part of culture and our current media society,” said Lohan, through her publicist.
