A Closer Look
Inside the box is naturally the LRT214 router, but there’s also a quick installation guide and a software and documentation disk included. The disk is a nice add-on that some companies wouldn’t provide any more in this digital age. But considering that the router is your way to the internet, you might not be able to go online until you have set it all up.
There’s also a tiny power supply that will fit the region you purchased it in and an RJ45 ethernet cable to connect the router.
The Linksys LRT214 is a simple router in its design. It is a business class product and such a product has to work and blend into the environment with alternate placement options. The design still makes it easy recognizable with the blue part to the rear of the router.
The bottom has four small rubber feet that are more than enough to keep it in place and where you set it. It also features two holes for wall mounting. Whether you want the cables to face up or down is your choice, the mounting option allows for both.
The rear has all six available connection options, four LAN and two WAN RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports where the 2nd WAN port can be used for a DMZ.
Both sides have air vents to help the router breathe, but on one side there’s also a Kensington security lock and the connector for the power supply.
All the LEDs are on the front part of the top, including for diagnose and VPN.
