MacGyver has been receiving quite a lot of attention lately, especially since CBS is actually planning to reboot the show. The American action-adventure television series was created by Lee David Zlotoff, and it had a very good run from 1985 to 1992. However, even though the series’ reboot is undoubtedly newsworthy, what’s arguably even more impressive is the fact that the show will soon receive its own movie courtesy of Lionsgate. That’s right, CEO Jon Feltheimer has recently revealed that the studio is actually working on a MacGyver movie that will be produced by Lee David Zlotoff and Neal Moritz; the man responsible for the Fast And The Furious franchise.
As for the show’s reboot, it looks like Furious 7 director James Wan will take on the role of executive producer. The plot will involve a prequel to the original series, and it will highlight MacGyver getting “recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.” Interestingly enough, James Wan wanted to produce a MacGyver film back in 2012 but he had to scrap those plans in order to focus on Furious 7.
