Final Thoughts

Price

OK, here is the tough pill to swallow, the Logitech G920 clocks in at a wallet-busting £299 directly from Logitech, although we have seen some retailers stock them for less, so it’s best to dig around for a good deal. We’ve seen them go for as low as £240 and if you can get it for £250 or less, we think you’re getting a great deal. The H-shifter, which we didn’t have for review today, but I have used personally is also a worthy addition and you can pick those up for under £40 from most online retailers. If you can get the full setup with change from £300, it’s well worth it.

Overview

I absolutely love this wheel, although as with most racing setups, it’s not without its drawbacks. Game support can often be hit and miss on a per-game basis, so doing your research to check how well any particular wheel is supported on all the games you want to play is essential. For example, Forza Apex on PC doesn’t support wheels at all, and that’s something we weren’t happy to discover in our testing. Storing the wheel isn’t easy either, it’s all large items of odd shapes and sizes, and fairly heavy too, so some forward planning on where you’re going to store it between uses is advisable unless you have a dedicated racing setup where you’ll be keeping it 100% of the time. Finally, it’s not cheap, but while there are more affordable units on the market, the performance and build quality often won’t match what the G920 has to offer, so you do get what you pay for.

The performance is certainly a premium experience, and you can feel the quality of the feedback in the wheel from the moment you use it. It’s not overpowered like some wheels on the market, where you feel exhausted after a simple race with hatchbacks around Silverstone and end up with white knuckles and sore elbows, but it’ll still give you a good workout. You can really put some weight into the turns and hold those big slides, easily finding the balance of the car and hold it there with confidence. The same goes for the pedals, they’re not adjustable like some high-end pedal sets, but they have a nice response to them that makes them easy-going on your feet for long gaming sessions.

The build quality is rock solid, no doubt about that. The leather stitching on the wheel, as well as the brushed aluminium frame not only looks great, but it feels great too. You feel like you’re hands on with a high-end supercar, and that’s exactly what I want from my racing setup. All the primary buttons have a nice tactile response too, especially the gear paddles, which and nice and heavy, cast from metal and have a mechanical click when pulled that gives you a nice and solid action to change gears with confidence.

As I said before, it’s not cheap, but if you can get it at the right price and you’ve done your research on game support, the G920 is one of the absolute best wheels on the market today. With support for Xbox One and PC, you’re getting a lot of functionality here, with the option to mount it on racing frames and desktops, and you can even expand it with the H-shifter for a more comprehensive racing setup.

Pros

  • Durable build quality
  • Easy to install
  • Great aesthetics
  • Xbox One and PC support
  • Easy to use software
  • Fantastic force feedback
  • Fairly quiet motor

Cons

  • Tricky to store between uses
  • Expensive

Neutral

  • H-shifter sold separately

“Logitech has a great history of high-end steering wheels and the G920 is another welcome addition to their range for any racing enthusiast. If you’re got the room for it and the budget, you’ll find it to be one of the best setups on the market today.”
