Logitech Partners With iFixit To Provide Right To Repair Options

E-waste is a growing issue with the Global E-Waste Monitor 2020 report projecting the problem to grow to over 75 million metric tons by 2030. Logitech has decided to make sure that they are doing their part in reducing these numbers by partnering up with iFixit to improve the repairability of their products.

Logitech Partners With iFixit

Logitech has partnered up with iFixit to facilitate the availability of spare parts, support beyond-warranty repair on select products, and develop relevant repair guides for their products. By providing and improving the repairability of Logitech’s products, it will in turn reduce the amount of e-waste produced by products that are damaged and would normally be thrown out.

Logitech Statement

“Consumers often struggle to find avenues to repair and extend the life of their product,” said Prakash Arunkundrum, chief operating officer at Logitech. “More can be done by brands and by broader value chains who wish to play an active role in the shift to a more circular economy. I am excited that we are able to collaborate with iFixit to develop better designs and make it easier for consumers to have a self-repair option to extend the life of our products.”

Logitech Repair Hub

The iFixit Logitech Repair Hub will be the place to source genuine replacement parts and batteries for Logitech products starting with the MX Master and MX Anywhere. The hub will provide individual parts as well as fix kits that contain everything needed to complete a repair. Over time Logitech aims to increase the number of product parts available.

Where Can I Learn More

Right To Repair is an important change for the tech industry and if more companies follow through with it, a dent will be made in the E-Waste problem. Replacement parts will be available in Summer 2023 in the US, to find out more visit the iFixit Logitech Hub.
