Finally, a solution is available that takes the worry out of keeping the battery charged on a wireless mouse. This technology is called ‘PowerPlay’ from Logitech and it is the most revolutionary change to happen to wireless mouse. The Logitech PowerPlay’s base generates an energy field that is transformed into charging current by the module inside the mouse. This allows for continued charging whether the mouse is in motion or in place. It just stays charged the entire time. Unthethered. Uncompromised. Uninterrupted. That is what Logitech is promising.
Pricing and Availability
The wireless charging system costs $99.99 USD and is now available for pre-order. This package contains:
- PowerPlay base
- PowerCore module
- Hard Gaming Mousepad (G440)
- Cloth Gaming Mousepad
- User documentation
Aside from the PowerPlay system, Logitech is also launching two high-end wireless gaming mice: the G903 and the G703. These two replace the G900 and G403 respectively, and they both will feature PowerPlay compatibility. The G903 and the G703 also feature updated longer-life micro-switches rated for 50 million clicks. This is a severe upgrade from the 20 million click lifetime of the previous two units.
The G903 has an MSRP of $149.99, while the G703 has an MSRP of $99.99. Both these mice will ship out by the end of June, while the charging system will ship in August.
