It looks like UK stock is a little behind some other markets right now, with none showing at any of the usual retailers. However, the mouse has launched, and I suspect it’ll be merely days before I see accurate prices. Of course, you can check Amazon for stock and prices here. If you’re eager, you can find stock using their store finder on the product page here. This is a premium gaming mouse though, so I’m going to guess it’ll come with a premium price tag.
Mad Catz pretty much lives up to their name, as their products are often a little mad, a little outside the norm, always trying something unique. Of course, that’s why I love them so much, as there just aren’t enough brands out there taking risks these days, and we end up with a lot of peripherals that are clones of their rivals. Alas, the B.A.T. 6+ is pretty bonkers, but perhaps even by Mad Catz own standards, it’s more toned down compared to the R.A.T. series.
It’s a very well made mouse, it feels very robust and durable. The plastics are thick, and there’s a good chunk of material in general. For a modern gaming mouse, it’s a little on the heavy side, coming in at 115 grams, but personally, I think the weight feels really well balanced, and the mouse glides smoothly with little effort. Alas, I’m sure an ultralight model in the future would help broaden the appeal.
That chunky build quality is found in the switches too, as they use the DAKOTA 60M rated switches that are a little heavier than some of their rivals. However, I like that too, it feels more mechanical and more purposeful. There’s no pre-travel in the LMB and RMB, giving these switches an instant feel. Both buttons have their own top panels a strong natural spring to the plastics, making it possible to really fire off some rapid actions; great news for all you hyper-fast clickers!
Faultless, it really is. Of course, I wouldn’t have expected anything less from Mad Catz, they’ve been using pretty killer sensors for years now, and the latest PixArt PWM3389 optical sensor does not disappoint. It tracks perfectly at any DPI level, can hit a staggering 16000 DPI, and deal with 50G acceleration, so you’re unlikely to ever throw it off course. Plus, with a 2000 Hz polling rate and 0.5ms response, you’ll be increasing your K/D ratio in no time.
Easy to use desktop software, ten programmable buttons, funky RGB lighting, magnetic side skirts and palm rest panels, and the ambidextrous symmetrical design make the B.A.T. 6+ as flexible and versatile gaming mice on the market today. You don’t have to be ambidextrous to reap the benefits either, as anyone can adjust the mouse to suit their style and requirements. However, those gorgeous DEKOTA switches and the slick optical sensor really steal the show, making this one seriously competitive gaming mouse.
