Mad Catz B.A.T. 6+ Ambidextrous Gaming Mouse Review

I’ve been a long time fan and user of Mad Catz products, having had a few of their keyboards, headsets, and their rather bonkers R.A.T. gaming mice over the last 20 years or so. However, while their R.A.T. mouse has had more minor redesigns than a Porche 911, it looks like it’s time for something new. I am of course talking about the B.A.T., and while I’ll admit the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree on this one, I am eager to see what the B.A.T. has to offer. Designed to look like a hypercar, spaceship, and batmobile all in one, according to Mad Catz, this slick-looking ambidextrous mouse is clearly targeted right the gaming market.

10 Programmable Buttons, 5 Onboard Memory Profiles

Perhaps the design and name are a bit of a gimmick, so what, I can cope with that. However, the hardware of the B.A.T. 6+ is perfectly serious. It comes equipped with a high-end 16K DPI sensor, the PixArt 3389. You also get the 2ms response time thanks to the DAKOTA Technology, with switches that are rated at 60M clicks. The mouse comes with the Cyborg Engine software, 10 fully programmable buttons, 5 onboard profiles, and more, so getting it set up for any scenario should be a breeze.

Features

  • Iconic ambidextrous shape with hypercar vents design
  • Swappable side skirts and palm rests for different grip styles of both hands
  • Mad Catz DAKOTA™ Technology – 2ms response time
  • Durable switches – guaranteed 60M clicks
  • 5 sets of onboard profile storage configured by Cyborg Engine

What Mad Catz Had to Say

“Combining the elements of fast and powerful design, the design cues were inspired by spaceships, hypercars, and batmobiles. The side vents design was obtained from the speediest hypercar. This design prevents the gamer’s hands from overheating during long hours of play. The changeable side skirts reflect the aggressiveness of the starfighter’s wings, making the control more agile. The palm rest is also similar to the bat mobile’s roof. Every line is carefully thought through, giving the whole mouse a raging sense of aesthetics and power.”

Mad Catz DAKOTA™ Technology with Durable Switches

Mad Catz DAKOTA Technology utilizes advanced signal-detection techniques to eliminate the bouncing and debouncing effect of the sensor pin. This technology accurately registers each signal and allows the sensor pin to perform accurate clicks. Moreover, the technology accelerates the response time to within only 2 milliseconds – which is 60% faster than other mechanical switches!
