Mad Catz R.A.T.6+ Gaming Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Mad Catz is one of the oldest names in the gaming business. Even as a kid I remember having some of their cheap steering wheels for the PlayStation 1. In all fairness, they weren’t the best back in the day, but hey, they got the job done. These days though, Mad Catz really can compete with the best from any of their rivals. At this price, it’s clearly a premium product, and I think the performance of it speaks volumes there too.

Build Quality

The Mad Catz R.A.T.6+ features a lot of premium quality components and materials. The aluminium chassis, a high-end PixArt sensor, Omron switches, great quality plastics and grips, a good braided cable, gold-plated jack. It’s ticking all the right boxes. What’s neat is how well put together it feels. It’s sturdy in your hand and feels like it will last. Plus you get all those lovely ergonomic adjustment features like the back slider and the weight tuning.

Performance

The sensor is really fantastic, from lower DPI to the maximum, it tracked straight and true. That being said, it’s hard to find a bad sensor these days, but this one is still one of the best. It’s got all the makings of a good eSports mouse, so it’s certainly got everything you need to game at home too.

Should I Buy One?

Fans of the old RAT mice, absolutely, it’s the same ergonomic beast you know and love, but with greatly upgraded internal hardware. For those new to the RAT series, it’s as simple as this. Do you like the look of it? If yes, then try one out, as they’re fantastic. For everyone else, you’re not short of amazing options for around the same price, but the RAT can certainly compete with any of them.
