Mad Catz has been creating the R.A.T. gaming mice for quite some time now. When the original launched, it certainly divided peoples opinions with its radical design. You either loved it or hated it, and I struggled to find people in between those opinions. Personally, I loved it, and its ultra-low, wide and flat design really fit the ergonomics of my hands. It’s a comfortable mouse for MMO gaming and using a palm rest grip style. Of course, it has developed a lot over the years, offering a range of built-in ergonomic adjustments, interchangeable panels, weight tuning, and so much more. The R.A.T. 8+ Gaming Mouse I reviewed at the end of last year was already pretty extreme, so where do Mad Catz go next with the R.A.T.?
Introducing the Mad Catz R.A.T. Pro X3 Supreme Edition! A more premium, hard-core edition of the R.A.T. for the true Mad Catz aficionado. With an Exoframe crafted from magnesium alloy, making it incredibly strong but also lightweight. R.A.T. PRO X3 Supreme comes complete with a choice of replaceable palm rests, scroll wheels, pinkie rests, and thumb rests, presenting the gamer with a dizzying choice of 108 different physical configurations!
It features the top-of-the-range Pixart PMW 3389 PRO optical sensor, the same found in the R.A.T. 8+ I reviewed recently. It can achieve up to 16000 DPI, 400 inches per second, and 50G of acceleration. Furthermore, it’ll do this with a response time of just 0.3ms!
“Mad Catz Global Limited, the leading innovators in gaming hardware, is excited to announce the shipping of the R.A.T. PRO X3 Supreme, a limited-edition gaming mouse designed to celebrate the current Year of the Rat. A stunning addition to any enthusiast’s collection, no expense has been spared in delivering a truly unique piece of gaming hardware designed to look, feel, and perform at a premium level. Presented in specially created collectors packaging, the unboxing of the R.A.T. PRO X3 Supreme is an experience in itself, housing an array of interchangeable components, a high-quality Travel Case and of course the mouse itself, fashioned in a unique matte black and gold colour scheme which is not only breathtaking to look at but designed with a highly tactile feel, ideal for those who appreciate a touch of luxury from their gaming hardware!” – Mad Catz
