MadCatz Cyborg R.A.T.3 Red Gaming Mouse Review

One thing is for certain, the R.A.T. range is truly unique in terms of style, offering both subtle and extreme style touches throughout. While I’m sure many people will covet the more expensive 5, 7 and 9 editions of this mouse with their adjustable panels, higher DPI sensors, rechargeable batteries, wireless features and more, not everyone can afford afford them, even if they are still great value for money in their own rights in terms of price vs performance. That being said £35 isn’t that cheap either but its still a great price for a full featured gaming mouse, this price tag does however  leave the R.A.T.3. at the entry level end of the gaming mouse market and one of the better priced options available.

I really enjoyed using the R.A.T.3 and quite simply couldn’t find a fault with it, my only issue with its design for example is that it is red and I’m not about to mark it down for the choice of colour I received. Of course that’s part of the fun with having a new range of colours and its not hard to pick one that is more to your liking. What I will say though is that the red gloss finish looks flawless and fantastic, it just doesn’t match the rest of my components.

So what the R.A.T.3 offers is 90% of the thrills of the higher range of R.A.T. mice but at just a fraction of the cost. Sure if you want to be able to adjust the length and width of the mouse you should look at one of the higher models, but in terms of raw gaming performance most consumers are still going to be won over by the performance you get from this mouse. Its great for FPS, MMO and heck even a few Facebook games, making the R.A.T.3 a solid all round performer.

So if your looking for a mouse that offers an excellent price vs performance ratio, a bucket load of unique style features and something that is rather cool to own, then you should really take a look at the R.A.T.3. and while this may be the cheapest of the bunch, the range only gets better from here on up as the R.A.T. 3 sets an impressive minimum standard for MadCatz’s PC gaming peripherals. All of these reasons are why I am happy to award the R.A.T.3. with our Editors Choice Award.
