Mafia 3 Reviews Will Not Be Revealed Until After Launch

Mafia: The Lost City of Heaven is one of my favourite video games of all time and I’ve completed it from start to finish on numerous occasions. The game’s stunning soundtrack and captivating gameplay created such a magical experience which seemed so revolutionary. After a long period, Mafia 2 released which despite having a few flaws, lived up to the original game’s legacy. Once again, I couldn’t put Mafia 2 down and found the characters to be really interesting. As you’d expect, expectations are high for Mafia 3 and I’m hoping it doesn’t turn out to be a disappointment. So far, 2K Games have released some gameplay footage and a few trailers, but it’s hard to gauge Mafia 3’s quality from these videos.
Rather bizarrely, it seems a small selection of YouTubers has been allowed to show Mafia 3 which raised my suspicions. Surely, the better option would be to let major websites and other channels unleash coverage and in turn, increase the game’s profile. Additionally, it’s now been revealed that the press will not receive Mafia 3 review copies until launch. Typically, this means the game in question isn’t great and the publisher wants to maximise pre-order sales before any criticism arrives. To be fair, this isn’t always the case but I’m not fond of studios restricting the amount of information out there which help consumers make a good buying decision. I’ve been informed that users shouldn’t be concerned about Mafia 3 and it’s an enjoyable game. However, only time will tell if this is actually correct.
