Magic Leap’s AR Technology Revealed Next Month?

Magic Leap is a strange startup. The Alphabet-backed augmented reality company launched back in 2010. Over the next few years, the secretive outfit raised investment of $1.4 billion from Google (now Alphabet) and Alibaba. Then, in 2015, the company wowed the industry with its first AR demo video. However, two-and-a-half years later, we’re yet to see the fruits of Magic Leap’s endeavours. In fact, last year, an exposé revealed that Magic Leap overpromised on its own capabilities. Whatever the state of Magic Leap’s AR hardware is, though, we’re might find out soon. Magic Leap is holding an event next month, and the company hints we may see inside its Florida facility for the first time.

When Do We See Magic Leap’s AR Technology?

Earlier this year, Magic Leap CEO Rony Abovitz called for developers to create content for its AR smart glasses.

Later, Magic Leap spokeswoman Julia Gaynor told Business Insider that “select developers” are already working with the tech. However, we’re still awaiting a public unveiling. If developers are working with Magic Leap’s AR, they’re being very secretive about it. Hopefully, though, we’ll get our first glimpse at the tech in November. According to Gizmodo, the company is holding an event – which will also be livestreamed – on 15th November.

Is Magic Leap really about to go public? If so, it’s about time.
