Workers at an American Pawn shop in Moultrie, Georgia were treated to quite the surprise the other day when a man tried to pawn an old Sega Genesis console. It looks like the console had a little something extra inside, crystal methamphetamine to be specific. The drug was located inside the game cartridge slot, and as you can probably imagine, the shop workers immediately alerted the police on the matter. The man who tried to pawn the console with crystal meth inside is named Jared Fournier, and he was arrested by the police shortly after the incident. As far as the console itself is concerned, we don’t know exactly if it was even in working condition, and I’m not even sure that this is relevant at this point.
The Sega Genesis was released originally in Japan on October 29, 1988, and it sold an estimated 40 million units. Depending on its age and condition, such a console is usually worth between $25 and $50 in our present days, but Fournier wanted to sell this one for no less than $700 because it was “special” and “worth more than just a regular one.” Allegedly, he also told workers that the meth inside was uncut and of premium quality. The police arrested him one mile away from the pawn shop and charged him with possession of methamphetamine.
