Marvel Rivals Developer Launches Crackdown on Cheating Ahead of Game’s Release

It seems that the developer of Marvel Rivals, the superhero fighting game, is taking strict measures to curb the practices of some players who resort to cheating and fraud to win and dominate, ahead of its release on December 8, 2024.

Early Crackdown on Cheating Accounts

The Marvel Rivals developer has already banned nearly 200 accounts, with the bans being targeted specifically at players using unauthorized third-party software or engaging in malicious hacking activities. Furthermore, these actions demonstrate the developer’s commitment to ensuring fair play in competitive matches.

The bans were based on a closed beta run by Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games a few months ago. During the beta, not only were gameplay functionality and technical glitches tested, but it also provided an opportunity for the developer to enhance their anti-cheat system, which delivered impressive results.

Focus on XIM Adapter Detection

Developer NetEase is aware of the existence of XIM switches used for controlling keyboard and mouse-style aiming and shooting on consoles. Concerned about preventing their use, the company explained its zero-tolerance policy for cheating in a recent interview with MP1st.

“We not only invest significant resources to monitor and analyze battle data and suspend suspicious accounts, but we also dedicate substantial effort to robust server and client security,” a NetEase representative stated. Additionally, the representative highlighted their efforts to identify XIM adapters effectively, stating that their system is currently showing promising capabilities and accuracy.

The developer was also asked about long-term plans for the game and its intellectual property bans but did not comment. Moreover, the company refrained from specifying the full scope of its cheating detection methods, maintaining a level of secrecy regarding its broader anti-cheat policies.
