Marvel Rivals has officially gone gold, meaning the game is now ready for its debut on PC and consoles, allowing players to flood the servers of this free-to-play hero shooter featuring iconic heroes and villains from the “House of Ideas.”
The confirmation came directly from NetEase Games, the game’s development team, through a post on the official X page of Marvel Rivals. The post also reminded fans that the launch is set for December 6 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). To clarify, the “gold” phase means the main development is complete, and the “gold master” copy is now ready for the necessary checks and certifications — one of the final steps before release.
For those who are unfamiliar, Marvel Rivals is a third-person, multiplayer hero shooter where players take on the roles of some of the most famous heroes and villains from the Marvel universe, including Spider-Man, Venom, Hulk, Star-Lord, and Magneto, among others, to compete in exciting 6v6 matches.
Each hero has unique abilities and traits that players must master to be effective in the game. The characters are divided into different roles. For example, Vanguard-class characters are durable and designed to dive into the action, creating chaos among the enemy ranks, while Duelists specialize in eliminations, but have lower durability.
At launch, Marvel Rivals will feature a roster of 28 playable characters and 8 maps for both casual and ranked matches, with additional content arriving each season. In this regard, NetEase Games recently revealed details about the upcoming launch of Seasons 0 and 1. If you’re interested in learning more, check out our full Marvel Rivals review.
