The second trailer for Marvel’s The Punisher tv series on Netflix is now out, and so is the official release date. Fans can finally binge watch the show starting November 17 worldwide. The Punisher first made his appearance on the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil. In fact, many fans deem his appearance the best thing to happen that season. Although there have been three full-length Punisher movies already, the new tv series takes the Marvel anti-hero into a different direction. One that is actually closer to his comic-book origins but set in modern times.
Part of the challenge in creating a grounded character like The Punisher in the shared Marvel universe is explaining how other heroes are not interferring with his business. From the trailer, it shows that he is staying in the shadows and operating clandestinely. In fact, the Netflix episodes appear to deal almost entirely with his origin which predate the Marvel Avengers events. Also, the only other existing Marvel character shown in the trailer is Karen Page. She is a paralegal turned journalist from the Daredevil series played by Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood).
Just like the comic book, Punisher has David “Microchip” Lieberman, a tech expert side kick. Although in the Netflix series, it appears that he is a lot skinnier than his comic book counter part. He is playerd by Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls, The Last Ship) in the TV series. The title character is of course, Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead).
Steve Lightfoot is the showrunner, whose previous works include the award-winning Hannibal TV series, Criminal Justice and Narcos.
