Marvo Scorpion PRO Gaming HG9053 Headset Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Marvo is a brand that focuses mostly on smaller retailers. If you have a high-street PC retailer or a local business, you’ll likely find Marvo stock at some very competitive prices. You’ll also find them well-stocked at smaller online retailers, eBay stores and similar. It’s highly recommended you shop around for a deal, as you often find Marvo prices vary a lot. I’ve seen the Marvo Scorpion PRO Gaming HG9053 Headset for around £40 on Google shopping. However, you can buy it on Amazon for £49.94 if you feel the need to stick with a more established retailer.

Overview

At this price range, Marvo does have plenty of big-name brand competition. Budget Corsair, SteelSeries and Turtle Beach headsets offer pretty much the same level of performance. However, while Marvo may not have the coolness of those brands, at least not yet, they’re making all the right moves to earn it.

One thing that does set this headset apart from anything else in this price range is the quality of the ergonomics. It feels like a welcome upgrade for a £40-50 headset. The headband is beautifully designed, with a dual metal band design that allows for a lot of flexibility. However, the wide padding section distributes the weight of the headset effortlessly and comfortably.

Furthermore, the ear cup padding is comfortable, and thanks to the very flexible and movable ergonomics of the ear cup mounts, getting a perfect fit is no trouble. Of course, that helps provide a balanced fit around your ears and helps maintain a seal, locking in the sound and locking out a lot of ambient noise.

The drivers are surprisingly powerful, and the built-in EQ modes and 7.1 surround sound all make this headset an absolute joy to use. From classical to heavy metal, it sounds great. From watching Twitch to kicking back with a movie, or playing games, it ticks all the right boxes. You can quickly have a bass-heavy sound or a treble boosted sound at the tap of a button.

Should I Buy One?

The Marvo Scorpion PRO Gaming HG9053 Headset is very competitive, but it does have some stiff competition. If anything, the sound is on par with the best headsets in this price range, and that is high praise indeed. However, while the style is a bit old-school looking, I quite like the aesthetics of the HG9053, but I am a bit of an old-school gamer anyway. Marvo certainly has an edge for ergonomics, though, and this is one of the most flexible and best-fitting headsets under £100, let alone under £50.
