It’s safe to say I am super hyped to revisit the story of Mass Effect. I was still rocking an Xbox 360 under my TV when I last played the first game. It’s definitely time to see what the game has to offer, again. Of course, with the new remaster on the way, it’ll look better than ever, and as the release date approaches, we’re seeing a lot more of what we can expect.
Bioware has now released a short comparison video, showing both the original and the remastered version. The difference is pretty drastic, and reminds me of switching between OG and next-gen graphics on Halo MMC.
The trilogy has been refreshed to feel like one unified experience. That means a new and improved UI across the board. There are improvements to weapon aiming and balance. Furthermore, they’ve improved SFX, Mako controls, squad behaviour and camera controls, too. Overall, it should feel like the Mass Effect you know and love but play to the same standards we expect from more modern releases.
PC users will get more than their console counterparts too. With native 21:9 support, improved UI navigation an native controller support; something that was only available via complex modding on the original release.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition will release on May 14th. Can your PC run it? check out the official system requirements here.
