MediaTek To Shift Its Focus To Tablet SoC and LTE Enabled Chips In 2014

MediaTek is planning to shift its target to the tablet SoCs and LTE enabled chipsets for smartphones next year. According to TelecomTiger(via Fudzilla), MediaTek general manager of international sales and marketing Finbarr Moynihan said the company wants to “democratize” smartphones and bring them to new markets. He noted that five to six billion people in India, China, Asia and Africa are moving into the middle class and generating demand for smart devices on a budget.
It is somewhat surprising that MediaTek is also targeting the high-end segment, whereas the company has already announced its first A15 big.LITTLE processor, it seems we are also going to see more high-end products next year.
MediaTek is going to release up to eight new tablet parts, along with mid-range phone chips. Taking a leap to the high-end chip market means rivaling with Qualcomm and NVIDIA, but MediaTek might have its own secrets which will maintain its chips at the high-end competition line.
