Medieval Kingdom Sim Norland Delayed, Hits Major Wishlist Milestone
James Cusworth / 8 months ago
A new upcoming Medieval Kingdom SIM game reminiscent of Rim World has just hit a new huge milestone on Steam with half a million wishlists. Sadly they have moved the release of the game back to July 18th so that the developer Long Jaunt can include some extra features.
The game Norland has successfully captured the imagination of players since its announcement in 2022 gaining over 50,000 wishlists which just a few years later has been shamed with the game now being in the top 50 most wishlisted games on Steam.
About Norland
The Empire has fallen, leaving in its place multiple successor kingdoms. The lords and ladies of these petty kingdoms squabble for control and influence – whether with cloak and dagger or sword and shield, families feud amongst themselves and against each other as greater threats cast a shadow across the land. Famines wreak havoc on the lives of the peasantry, warfare and disunity threaten the social order, noble families fall to decadence and hedonism, and beyond the borders of the old Empire, great armies of pillage and destruction form under the banners of invader-kings.
In these uncertain times, you must lead your small kingdom to greatness – and the members of your noble family to survival – in this medieval colony sim focussed on generating stories of great valor and vile treachery.
New Features Coming to Norland
- Enhanced World Map trading, which can only be done by negotiating contracts with neighboring rulers.
- Province ecology, where factors such as soil erosion, limited raw materials, and market saturation will force players to look beyond their immediate borders to ensure the continued prosperity of the kingdom.
- New local map mechanics such as patrolling, enhanced character reactions, and even market speculation.
- Aging – no longer will the ruling family be immortal.
- Prophecies and disasters for the mid-game.
- A whole host of other quality-of-life improvements and features, which can be read about in this Steam post.
