Meet iPhone 7 – The Man Who Changed His Name to Win a Phone

It might be hard to believe, but it is true. A Ukranian man has legally changed his name to iPhone 7 and there’s actually a somewhat valid reason behind it. An electronics store offered the latest Apple phone to the first five people who would legally change their name to the device and that’s what this 20-year old man did.
Legally he is now known as iPhone Sim (Sim means seven) which makes the name even cooler than iPhone Seven would have been and the shop handed over the brand new mobile phone on Friday. Originally he was known as Olexander Turn and said that he might change it back later when he gets a family and has children.
A brand new iPhone 7 costs around $850 USD in Ukraine which is a lot of money for anyone, but a name change only costs around $2 USD in Ukraine. With that kind of math, the choice for simple for iPhone AKA Olexander.
At first, his friends and family were skeptic of his choice, but once he explained it to them, they understood his reasoning behind it. After all, it does make sense from a business point of view. His sister, Tetyana Panina, said “it was difficult to accept that and hard to believe it’s true. Each person in this world is looking for a way to express himself. Why not do that in this way?”
Apple fans are known for their dedication, but this takes to the next level. Wonder what the copyright and trademark laws are when it comes to names. Let’s hope it doesn’t backfire on him. Then again, he could just change it back – he got his new mobile.
