Meta Ends Support For Dead and Buried

Meta has just announced that the VR title Dead and Buried and its sequel will be ending its support on March 15th 2024.

Dead and Buried VR

Dead and Buried VR was a Western zombie shooter game that came free with the Rift CV1 with touch controls. This game and several others including, Robo Recall, First Contact, Toybox, Lucky’s Tale, and more all offered a quick and enjoyable way to get to grips with the touch control system. Out of these games, Robo Recall was easily the best with Lucky’s Tale following second but Dead and Buried was by no means a bad game and it is unfortunate to see it go.

In an email to Rift owners Meta said:

We are reaching out to let you know that Dead and Buried will no longer be supported as of Friday, March 15, 2024. You can continue to hunt ghosts and other creatures in Dead and Buried on your Rift, Rift S, or Quest (via link) devices until 11:59 PM PT on that date.

For every user that battled it out in the old saloon, robbed a runaway train, or lived out your wildest westest fantasies to your heart’s content, we thank you for your support!

Dead and Buried 2

Now what is much more unfortunate is the fact that Dead and Buried 2 is also getting removed. I never owned this game as it was a paid experience but based on a post on the OculusQuest subreddit, this game will be meeting the same fate despite not being a free title leading fans who purchased the game to be a bit stiffed out of their money. Goes to show that you don’t really own digital games.
