Meta Quest 3 Coming Later This Year Alongside Quest 2 Price Cuts

Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the Meta Quest 3 VR headset and successor to the Quest 2 will be coming later this year with higher resolution, higher performance and all that in a slimmer and more comfortable form factor.
Quest 3, Meta’s Most Powerful VR Headset Yet
The Quest 3 combines Meta’s highest-resolution display yet with pancake optics to provide an even more detailed VR experience. Powering this display is a next-generation Snapdragon chipset delivering more than twice the graphical performance as the Snapdragon GPU in the Quest 2 providing even smoother performance and crisp details improving the already immersive experience.
Redesigned For Comfort and Control
VR headsets can be bulky and uncomfortable over long periods, especially with the Rift CV1 which I own and with this knowledge Meta has worked hard to improve the comfort of the Quest 3. The Quest 3 features a 40% slimmer optic profile compared to the Quest 2 making it lighter and more comfortable for the user. The controllers have also been redesigned with a more streamlined and ergonomic form factor, plus the outer tracking rings have been removed thanks to advancements in tracking technology. The Quest 3 will also be compatible with the Quest Pro touch controllers if you prefer those. You also don’t even need to use controllers as hand tracking is supported out of the box with Direct Touch allowing you to interact with virtual objects.
Quest 2 Price Drops & Performance Update
Alongside this reveal, Meta will be dropping the prices of the Meta Quest 2 making the already affordable VR option even more affordable. The 128GB model will be dropping to $299.99 whilst the 256GB model will be down to $349. Further enticing this deal is a new software update which will see an up to 26% CPU performance increase and an up to 19% GPU performance increase for the Quest 2 and Quest Pro. Maybe I’ll consider upgrading and putting my Oculus Rift to bed seeing as the cables are a nightmare and are for some reason very deformed.
