Metal Gear Solid Fans Voice Anger at Konami’s Pachislot Trailer

Metal Gear Solid

The Metal Gear Solid series has attracted a very passionate following who deeply care about the direction of future games and its legacy. Hideo Kojima’s inventive combination of tense stealth mechanics and an engrossing story captured the public’s imagination. Not only that, the original demonstrated the technical possibilities of the PlayStation One and dawned in a new era of immersive gaming. Unfortunately, Konami’s bitter public split with the series’ creator and behaviour towards creating core games has left people feeling very angry.

Their latest business decision isn’t going to help matters either and they’ve just launched a Metal Gear Solid trailer for a new pachislot machine. In the video, there’s remade cutscenes from Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater which is so infuriating for fans wanting to see HD remasters of the older titles. As you might expect, the trailer hasn’t gone down well and currently has 26,254 dislikes compared to a mere 849 likes. The video has been viewed 470,884 times and it’s not beyond the realm of fantasy that the dislike rate could surpass the latest Call of Duty trailer.

Konami only has themselves to blame and surely knew this would anger the core gaming demographic. It seems they have no interest in what these people think and the gaming community will probably always seen Konami in a negative light.
