The sequel to Metro Last Light, Metro Exodus was initially unveiled at E3 during the Microsoft press briefing over six months ago. Now during the Video Game awards, 4A Games has released a new trailer titled ‘The Aurora’. Moreover, a confirmation of an autumn 2018 release date is now official for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven FPS game from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror.
It takes inspiration from the best-selling novels by Dmitry Glukhovksy like the previous Metro titles. Players flee the shattered ruins of dead Moscow and embark on an epic, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia. Explore the Russian wilderness in vast, non-linear levels that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.
Each previous Metro game has been quite taxing on video cards since the game is quite detailed. In fact, the first Metro game was the first to truly make use of tessellation. An immersive post-apocalyptic horror game is important, or else it is not going to be very effective. Which is why the Metro series has been successful so far. Between the scary monsters you face and the various factions shooting at you, keeping alive is a challenge. Even just the ticking of the Geiger counter is enough to scare most.
The new trailer does a wonderful job invoking what made the previous Metro games great. This time, players will be able to go beyond the Metro and see what horrors await. Check out the trailer below in glorious 60 frames-per-second.
