It’s a shame to say it, but it looks like Flashback 2 won’t be out until next year! I mean, I suppose since I first played the game on the Sega Megadrive, I can wait just a little longer for the sequel. Microids announced that Flashback 2 has been delayed until 2023 earlier today in a tweet, and while it was initially planned to release in winter, they’re pushing it to give them more time to polish the title, which is certainly fine with me.
It’s only been 30 years since the original. Sure, there was that 3D PS1 sequel, but well… it was awful.
Of course, Flashback 2 isn’t just a sequel to the classic game from the 90s, but actually, the sequel to the modern and rather fantastic remaster too. The new game is said to feature five levels with larger and more varied environments too, such as jungle, city, factory, spaceship, etc. Hopefully, they’ll keep the focus on a mixture of survival and puzzles too, which is what made the original so great.
There’s also said to be some integration of vehicles, as well as a new inventory system that will allow for modification and upgrading of your weapons. Either way, I can’t wait to get my hands on this one, but my play list is hardly lacking right now anyway!
